About Oaxaca Eats Food Tours

Home to a culinary expression unlike any other in Mexico, Oaxaca dazzles the palate with flavors both traditional and boldly creative. A Oaxaca Eats Food Tour will take you straight to the heart of Oaxacan cuisine in four hours of leisurely exploration.

Lorena Rubio, Owner 

Born and raised in Oaxaca de Juarez, Lorena joined Oaxaca Eats Food Tours as a tour guide, and later a manager, to proudly share her love of culture, traditional food, and mezcal to travelers from all over the world. Today, as the owner of Oaxaca Eats, she remains dedicated to promoting her beautiful city, giving back to her community, and generating incredible and enriching experiences for travelers that will last a lifetime.

Kay and Dean Michaels, Founders
 

Kay and Dean started Oaxaca Eats Food Tours in 2018 to share with others what they loved about Oaxaca, the food, history and culture, and to give back to the community that had welcomed them so warmly.

In 2022, with great confidence and pride they transferred ownership to their tour manager and guide Lorena Rubio.

Our Goals

  • Introduce traditional and innovative food and drink from Oaxaca to visitors from all over the world
  • Support local restaurants through tours, social media, and word-of-mouth promotion
  • Hire local bi-lingual staff to share their enthusiasm and knowledge about Oaxaca
