We take pride in maintaining a strong standard for safety on our tours, and we’ll continue to reevaluate our measures for employees and guests to ensure a safe, healthy, and FUN vacation experience.
Currently, Oaxaca Eats Food Tours and our restaurant partners are following guidelines set forth by the Ministry of Health for the State of Oaxaca. We have also instituted our own additional protocols.
- Tours are limited to a small group of eight guests. Please contact us if your party is larger than 8.
- Oaxaca requires face masks indoors (when not eating) and outdoors wherever social distancing is not possible. Please bring your own face mask.
- Temperature checks for guests prior to tour start.
- Hand sanitizer and restrooms will be available throughout our tours.
- Food will be individually plated.
- Food servers and staff will wear masks at all restaurants.
- Your tour guide will wear a mask for the entire tour.
- Guides will be temperature checked at tour start and will monitor and report any symptoms prior to tour.
-
Yes. Full refunds are available for cancellations made at least 24 hours in advance of the start date of the experience. Cancellations made within 24 hours of the start date of the experience will receive no refund.

All food, drinks (including alcohol), and restaurant gratuities are included in the ticket price. 5% of the ticket price will be divided between two non-profit charities that we support – Esperanza Infantil and Institute of Historic Organs of Oaxaca.
Extra costs would include additional beverages not part of the original tour and/or items for purchase at tasting locations along the way.
-
Yes, for children 12 and under the price is $69. Children 13 and older will pay the adult ticket price of $92.
Babies and small children who will NOT be joining the food tastings do not need a ticket. If your child will NOT be eating or will be sharing food with you along the way, there is no need to purchase a child’s ticket. Children 13 years of age and older participating fully in the tour, will need to purchase a full-priced ticket.
Please contact us at info@oaxacaeats.com prior to purchase if you have questions about a child’s ticket.

Plenty! Definitely enough for a filling lunch. Our tour includes four stops where you will be treated to over 15+ unique tastes of food and drink. We recommend eating only a light breakfast before the tour. We don’t recommend making an early dinner reservation after the tour.
-
Yes. We can accommodate vegetarians. Please mention your dietary restrictions and any allergies when you buy your ticket(s). We pass this information along to the restaurants in advance and all will accommodate this request.
-
No. The tour ends at a different place but close to the starting point. The tour guide will gladly assist you in returning to the starting point or with any directions that you might need.

Yes, we love reviews! You may review your experience on Trip Advisor, or Google, or join in the conversation on Facebook, and please share your photos on Instagram.

The tour is 4 hours and covers about a mile or 1.6 kilometres which is walked at a moderate pace. Most locations are within 5-10 minutes of each other. One restaurant requires climbing a staircase (with handrail) to reach the second floor terrace. The tour is appropriate for most fitness levels. It is not wheelchair accessible and a stroller is not recommended.
Note: Oaxaca sits at an altitude of 5,102 feet or 1,555 meters. For those not acclimated to higher altitudes you might experience some altitude-related symptoms such as shortness of breath. Walk slowly, keep hydrated and rest when needed.
-
Your tour guide will let you know when and where it is appropriate to shop. Some of our partners sell specialty items and products like chocolate, mole, and mezcal. Please check with your guide to be sure that there is adequate time to make purchases. In some cases, your guide may recommend that you wait until after the tour concludes to revisit those locations.

We are happy to accommodate a variety of special requests with our Private Tours. Please keep in mind that we have limitations in terms of group size. Email us at info@oaxacaeats.com for more information.

Yes, most definitely! The tour offers incredible opportunities to take photos of the restaurants and food as well as the historic streets of Oaxaca.

The tour is 4 hours and at a maximum just over a mile of moderate-paced walking on flat streets and sidewalks. Most locations are within 5-10 minutes of each other. Two restaurants require climbing stairs (with handrail) to reach the rooftop terrace. The tour is appropriate for most fitness levels but is not recommended for those who have difficulty walking or climbing stairs. It is not wheelchair accessible and a stroller is not recommended.

Yes, babies and children are welcome on our tour. However, we ask you to use your judgment to determine if the tour is appropriate for them. Please take into consideration that the tour is 4 hours long, requires walking over a mile and sitting or standing for most of the time.
The streets and sidewalks of Oaxaca are uneven and demand close attention at all times. The tour is not baby stroller accessible. We recommend using a carrier.

Absolutely not! Our tour guides will offer info during your 4-hour experience on local culture, historical culinary insight, great places to shop/eat and other places of interest for you to explore during your visit in Oaxaca. You may even make a new friend or two!

Please be sure to let us know if you or anyone in your group has a dietary restriction (e.g. vegetarian, no beef, lactose intolerant) during the ticketing process. If someone in the group has a food allergy, i.e., peanuts or shellfish, please make us aware of this prior to the tour. We would ask that you bring any medication you might need such as an epipen.
If you have food allergies or intolerances and decide to try tastings in addition to those that have been specially prepared for you, please be aware that you do so at your own risk and Oaxaca Eats Food Tours assumes no responsibility.
We cannot guarantee there will be alternative food or drink items for you but we do want to ensure your health and safety.

Tours are held rain or shine. However if you are visiting between November and April, it is unlikely that you will experience rain. We ask you to check the weather and dress appropriately. Because Oaxaca is situated over 5,000 feet above sea level the sun can be quite intense even if the temperature isn’t, so a hat and sunscreen will come in handy. And don’t worry, in the event of a severe weather situation, we will not put you in harm’s way and will reschedule if possible. If it’s not possible we will refund your ticket price.
-
Unfortunately, no. Many of our tasting locations are in historic buildings that are not accessible. In addition, many of the sidewalks and streets in the city are not conducive to wheelchairs or strollers.
-
Our tour is given in English but we can translate to Spanish upon request. Our guides are fluent in English and Spanish.

Please bring a face mask. A camera or phone for taking photos. The sun is very intense in Oaxaca and an umbrella is great for providing shade. For those sensitive to the sun, sunscreen and a hat are recommended. If you think you might be purchasing mole, mezcal or chocolate, a small, packable, tote might be in order.
